What a year. I'm having a hard time believing that 2012 is coming to an end.
In 2012:
We learned how quickly life can change
Aaron graduated from Airman Leadership School and became a Staff Sergeant
Aiden became infatuated with his belly button
We played at the park
Aiden got to meet his cousin Maya for the first time
Had fun with Poppy and Grandma
Attended a "Gospel Praise" church service on Easter
Spent time with friends
Aiden got a new ride from G.G.
Had more fun times with Grandma and Poppy
Watched several lightening storms
Aiden learned how to take off his jammies
Enjoyed ice cream and a nice summer evening with friends
Went to the Denver Zoo
Went to the Air and Space Museum
Spent a lot of time at the library
Bowed our heads to pray
Celebrated Christopher's fourth birthday
Said goodbye to some very good friends
Celebrated our five year wedding anniversary
Aiden celebrated his 2nd birthday
Visited Devils Tower (twice)
Went to the county fair
Spent time with the ones we love
Aiden got to meet some chickens
Wished that our loved ones didn't have to get older
Said goodbye to the strongest, bravest, most generous man we have ever met
We read a lot of books
Aiden got really good at riding his Strider bike
Went to Sioux Falls
Went hiking and enjoyed pretty fall scenery
Worked on craft projects
Went to Elmo Live!
Carved pumpkins
I met the Pioneer Woman
Enjoyed Thanksgiving in Colorado
Spent time with the ones we love
Decorated for Christmas
We all got Bronco's jerseys
Got excited about reindeer and Christmas
Spent a really nice and quiet Christmas together, just the three of us
So as 2012 comes to an end, I am reminded of where we were a year ago. We were spending the holidays in Colorado, oblivious to the fact that we would lose a loved one in the coming year. So let us be mindful in 2013 that not every day is promised. We must take advantage of the time we have with loved ones. We must enjoy the little moments of everyday life, because one day we will look back and those moments will be what we hold in our hearts forever.
Thinking of you and missing you always, Grandpa.
